Triptek Mural in Christiania

Mural on a wall in Christiania

A special place in Copenhagen Denmark

Christiania is a part of town that once included military barracks. In 1971 the Military had left and hippies took over the unused buildings, and declared it a free community. The government decided not to fight, but call it an experiment (it could happen). The community would be allowed some independence. There were agreements to pay for utilities, but I don't think the payments continue today (30+ years later). Although some commerce in hashish does occur there, they also police themselves.

The signs entering the region declare: Speed, Coke, Heroin is prohibited to be on, deal with, consume or posses in Christiania.
